Hanwha Galleria, the retail business arm of Hanwha Group, has ramped up its online marketing efforts to lure more Chinese tourists to its new urban duty-free store located in the iconic 63 building of Yeouido, southwestern Seoul.

The Galleria Duty Free 63, Hanwha’s first duty-free store, opened on Dec. 28.

Hanwha said Sunday it invited 20 Chinese SNS stars, so-called “content creators” whose online videos are shared across Chinese social media and online networking platforms, to its duty-free store last Friday.

Those recently invited by Hanwha are top-tier “creators” in their 20s and 30s who specialize in creating videos related to beauty and travel, together boasting some 1 million followers on social media, the firm said.

“It’s a rare occurrence in the industry for 20 of China’s leading ‘creators’ to visit a Korean duty-free store together at once. We hope to better promote the Galleria duty-free store in China through the new online videos,” the company said in a press release.

During their visit last Friday, the Chinese SNS stars looked around Hanwha’s new outlet as well as the various tourist facilities located in the 63 building.

They plan to create diverse promotional videos and share them through China’s leading social network platforms Weibo and Weixin (WeChat) as well as video sharing website Youku in February.
