Hanjin Group, a leading South Korean transportation conglomerate, is expected to accelerate the generational power shift in management as Cho won-tae, the only son of group chairman Cho Yang-ho, will take a bigger role in its flagship affiliate Korean Air.

Korean Air, the nation’s flag carrier, accounts for half of the groups’s entire revenue.

According to the 2016 executive reshuffle announced late Monday evening, junior Cho, the executive vice president of Korean Air, will enhance his influence in the airline’s entire operations beyond sales and planning functions.

The 41-year-old heir apparent will continue to lead Hanjin Kal Corp., the holding company of the group, as president and CEO, the company said.

In another significant change, Ma Won, CEO of Jin Air, the low-cost subsidiary of Korean Air, was promoted as executive vice president and will go back to Korean Air to lead the carrier’s passenger business division. The new CEO of the nation’s second largest budget carrier will soon be announced, the company added.
