Paying a visit to two of LG Chem’s factories, the company’s chief executive Park Jin-soo vowed to push the envelope to overcome business difficulties due to global economic woes and continued low oil prices.

At the factories in Cheongju and Ochang, North Chungcheong Province, the LG Group affiliate rolls out lithium-ion batteries for vehicles and smartphones as well as filters for waste water treatment.

“Despite prolonged low global economic growth and stagnating oil prices, which cast a cloud over the business environment and increase uncertainty, we can’t just sit and do nothing in order to lead the market,” CEO Park said.

“When everything is uncertain, anything is possible,” said the CEO, encouraging the top executives and employees to focus on creating future value.

He said the company would make efforts to maintain its leading status in the battery business and enter the top echelon of the market for waste water treatment filters by 2018.

The LG Chem CEO will visit other manufacturing sites at home and abroad. He is scheduled to visit a factory in South Chungcheong Province on Friday.
