Organica-day, the juice-making arm of Herald Corp., on Wednesday said it has acquired a high-pressure processing beverage manufacturing facility in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, from CJ CheilJedang.

Dubbed the Anseong Just Juice Production Center, the plant will become the epicenter of the burgeoning cleanse juice business for the company, which has recently secured prestigious clients such as Starbucks, Artise bakery, Hyundai, Shinsegae and The Galleria department stores.

“The acquisition has enabled us to enhance our efficiency in product development while differentiating quality and hygiene among market competitors,” said Organica-day CEO Woo In-ho. “We will put our efforts into leading the ‘cleanse’ food culture in Korea.”

The production center, comprised of two buildings on the 15,983-square-meter site, can produce 40 billion won ($34 million) worth of HPP juice every year.

It is Organica’s second HPP juice production plant after completing Asia’s first cleanse juice-only factory -- the Paju Just Juice Production Center -- in Gyeonggi Province in March. The factory has won the hazard analysis critical control point accreditation to ensure its hygiene in all processes.

Organica-day’s idiosyncratic HPP method is a cold pasteurization technique by which products already sealed in the final package are sanitized by a high level of isostatic pressure transmitted by water. This is believed to conserve more sensorial and nutritional properties of food than regular heated pasteurization, thus regarded fresher than its market peers.

Organica-day, established in 2013, produces the premium cleanse juice, the cleanse salad and cleanse soups. Its signature cleanse juice program provides a vegetable and fruit squeeze for up to three in order to expel unhealthy substances from the body and supply essential minerals and nutrients intensively.

Organica-day and its food-making division Organica are expected to post 60 billion won in combined sales next year.
