More and more Incheon International Airport users are using the Airport Railroad Express that takes them from Seoul Station to the airport in less than an hour, according to the authorities.

The number of daily AREX users marked 236,907 on Oct. 8., the highest since the launch of the service in 2007, latest data showed.

“The regular ticket with 11 stops is priced at 4,150 won per person and takes 56 minutes to get to the airport. The express train costs 8,000 won and takes 43 minutes to get to the airport, with designated seats and cabin crew service,” an AREX spokesman stated. “There are also various discount schemes that offer up to 2,000 won-off from the rack rate,” he added.

Express ticket holders who fly Korean Air, Asiana Airlines or Jeju Air can check in at the City Airport Terminal inside the AREX terminal, which is annexed to Seoul Station.

According to the AREX authorities, it takes about 10 minutes for the passengers to complete the check-in formalities, which is shorter than the time taken at the airport.

The AREX users are also encouraged to use the tax refund service for their purchased cosmetics goods, garments, shoes and jewelry at the AREX airport terminal. All they need is to use the touch screen by scanning their passports and QR codes on their receipts.

All instructions are provided in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese languages. The refunds are given in Korean won, but can be exchanged for other currencies at the kiosk right next to the touch screen.

“We are also running www.arex.or.kr as well as AREX Facebook and Google accounts to promote the AREX services,” the spokesman said.
