South Korean tech giant LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday it has started to receive preorders for the Nexus 5X, the newest flagship smartphone jointly launched with Google Inc., which will come with the latest Marshmallow operating system.

The 5.2-inch Nexus 5X is their third edition after the Nexus 4 launched in 2012 and Nexus 5 in 2013.

The smartphone will come with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system that boasts improved features, including App Standby, which allows users to save power by shutting down applications that have not been used for a long period.

The price tag on the 16GB model stands at 509,000 won ($426.3), while that of the 32GB edition is to be sold at 569,000 won.

With a fingerprint sensor equipped on the back, the Nexus 5X will also support Android Pay, Google's latest payment tool. Google plans to expand the scope of the market for Android Pay around the globe in the near future.

The smartphone boasts a 5-megapixel front camera, along with a 12.3-megapixel lens on the back. Users are capable of taking 4K-quality videos through the device, LG said.

The device will come in three colors: black, white and blue.

China-based Huawei, meanwhile, will introduce the Nexus 6P, which will also come with the Marshmallow platform. (Yonhap)
