Korean health care solution firm Hidea Solutions has launched the world’s first remote health care, or telecare, solution running on the Long Term Evolution, or 4G, network, dubbed LivOn Silvercare.

The LTE-based telecare solution is aimed at enabling caregivers to monitor elderly or people with disabilities in real time and respond to emergencies in a swift manner.

The LivOn Silvercare solution consists of a telecare base unit, a digital wristband that allows users to call for help, an activity detector, and a fire and gas detector.

The solution, which supports Wi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth connectivity, can be linked to a wireless camera and stream live video in high resolution. It is also compatible with other health care sensors and devices.

“Hidea Solutions has joined hands with chipmaker Qualcomm from the early stage of product development, and tried to meet the demand of elderly and disabled people for safety and health care,” said Hidea Solutions chief executive Lee Seung-youp.

The digital wristband for emergency calls and the activity detector won prizes for their simple and superior design, including those at the Good Design Award in Korea and iF Design Award in Germany.

An official from the Korean firm said that “the need for more sophisticated remote heath care technology will increase around the world due to the aging population.”
