Samsung Electronics, which leads the global TV market, scored first in China’s smart TV market for 10 quarters in a row, data showed Sunday.

According to market research institute GfK, Samsung Electronics was in the lead with 20.8 percent of market share in the Chinese smart TV market in the second quarter this year.

Following closely behind are China’s Hisense with 14.1 percent of the market share, as well as China’s Skyworth and Japan’s Sharp, which each have 11.8 percent of total market share.

Samsung Electronics’ UA55HU6008, a 55-inch UHD smart TV, has also been ranked as China’s “most popular smart TV product” on Chinese TV-related website tvhome.com.

According to the state-run Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, sales of smart TVs in China reached 26.5 million sets last year, twice the amount of that of 2012. KOTRA expected sales this year to rise up to 45.5 million sets.

Samsung Electronics said that it plans to bolster its dominance in the market by promoting their premium SUHD TV lineup, which they released this year.

Samsung’s premium SUHD TV won the China Appliance Grand Prize at the Appliance & Electronics World Expo 2015 in Shanghai, and its smart TV model JS9800 and JS9900 won awards in the “2015 China Digital TV Awards” hosted by the China Video Industry Association.
