Following its recent staging of the distinguished Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century for the annual Hanwha Classic 2015, representatives have revealed that next year’s concert series will feature French conductor Marc Minkowski and the Musicians of the Louvre orchestra.

The Musicians of the Louvre orchestra is an internationally renowned French baroque music ensemble, which originally formed in 1982 in Paris by Minkowski. Since 1996 the orchestra has been based in Grenoble, southeastern France and henceforth gained an international reputation as being one of the best baroque and classical ensembles.

The orchestra pioneers itself it in the ensemble’s use of period instruments, playing in the Baroque era style. The group also sets itself apart as dedicated French period musicians with their establishment of the Musicians of the Louvre-Grenoble project, which proposes a progressive revival of baroque music as well as period pieces that are seldom part of an ensemble’s repertoire.

The upcoming Hanwha Classic 2016 is tentatively scheduled to be held in March. The Musicians of the Louvre orchestra is expected to perform its rendition of Rameau‘s “Imaginary Symphony” as well as Schubert‘s “Symphony No. 8.”

Hanwha Classic is a series of classical music concerts organized by Hanwha Group, as part of the conglomerate’s efforts to give back to society. This year, it presented the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. In its first-ever appearance in Korea, the orchestra performed three shows, in Goyang, Seoul and Daegu, attracting roughly 4,000 classical music lovers.
