The Bahraini government launched its online Business Licensing Integrated System (www.business.gov.bh) built by LG CNS last week, according to the Korean tech firm. LG CNS has worked with the Bahraini government on the project since 2012.

BLIS is a one-stop website for obtaining commercial registrations and other business-related licenses in Bahrain. It provides documents of all the laws, conditions, procedures and regulations on business licenses.

It also automatically communicates with applicants through email or text messaging around the clock for guidance and information.

The e-Government website aims to simplify the registration process for businessmen so that they do not have to visit investors’ centers or other government offices.

The Bahraini government hopes that BLIS will help attract investment in the country, as part of the government’s “Economic Vision 2030” to stimulate the national economy.

The launching of BLIS also raises hopes for future exports of Korean-style registration systems overseas, as Seoul is regarded as having one of the best e-government services in the world.

To win the BLIS project, LG CNS competed with over 18 global companies from the United States, India and Singapore.

The company had previously set up an e-registration system for the Korean Supreme Court in 2008, making it possible for applicants to register without having to visit the registry office.

LG CNS said they hoped BLIS’ success would provide them with further e-Government business deals through the Middle East.
