South Korea said Thursday it will hold an exposition to raise awareness about inter-Korean unification here in late May to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.

The exhibition on unification will run from May 29 to 31 at Gwanghwamun Plaza as well as Seoul Plaza in front of the Seoul City Hall and will involve 164 organizations, including local governments, civic groups and media companies, according to the Ministry of Unification.

The expo features photo and video exhibitions to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation from Japan's 1910-45 colonial rule as well as the inter-Korean division.

At Seoul Plaza, children will also be able to board a small train named the "Unification Express" that passes through eight imaginary stations in such Eurasian cities as Pyongyang and Berlin.

Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news wire service, will join the event by running a booth and a photo exhibition on North Korea. (Yonhap)
