President Park Geun-hye will meet with a delegation of foreign ambassadors Thursday afternoon here to exchange opinions on South Korea's diplomacy, the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said.

The reception comes amid concerns that South Korea is sandwiched between the United States and China seeking regional dominance and Seoul and Tokyo engaged in disputes over Japan's refusal to apologize for the wartime sex slavery of Korean women by the imperial Japanese Army.

It is the first time she will host all of them in a single meeting since taking office in 2013.

Previously, she hosted ambassadors from South American and African nations in February 2013 and organized another meeting for those from European and Asian countries in March the same year.

More than 300 people are expected to attend the reception.

They include foreign ambassadors, honorary consuls and representatives of international organizations in Seoul.

From the South Korean side, the president will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Kim Dong-ho and Shin Yong-han, heads of the presidential committees for culture and young people, respectively.

"This will be a chance for foreign officials to share opinions on the direction South Korea's diplomacy is taking," Presidential Spokesman Min Kyung-wook told reporters. (Yonhap)
