LG CNS president Kim Dae-hoon promoted the company’s advanced technologies in transportation system during a Korea-Colombia business forum held on Saturday in Bogota, officials said.

The meeting comes in line with President Park Geun-hye’s 12-day tour of four South American countries, including the first leg in Colombia. CEO Kim is a member of the Korean delegation for the trip.

During the meeting, business and political leaders of the two countries agreed to expand ties on information communication technologies, touting LG CNS’ transportation card system project in Bogota as one of the successful export cases of Korean know-how in the field.

The LG-affiliated technology service company won the 320 billion won ($296 million) project in 2011, under which the company has installed related systems and card readers on 26 bus terminals and 7,700 buses in the city.

The system allows citizens to use buses with a single card, while related data is analyzed for better bus operation and renewal of service route. The company aims to complete the installation on a total of 151 terminals and 12,000 buses within the year.

The company is also joining a 37 billion won ICT education project with Colombia’s education ministry with aims to improve educational environment across the nation.

“Based on our success in Colombia, LG CNS will ramp up efforts to spread our ICT prowess to other Latin countries such as Chile, Peru and Brazil,” said the CEO.
