Epik High wins Chinese music award

South Korean hip-hop group Epik High nabbed one of the top honors at a Chinese music awards event Saturday.

The trio scooped the Best Performance Artist of the Year at the third YINYUE V-Chart Awards held at the MasterCard Center in Beijing.

“Thank you, Chinese fans. We love you. We will come to China more often,” Epik High said during its acceptance speech.

Epik High performed two of its hit songs, “Happen Ending” and “Born Hater,” double lead tracks from its eighth studio album, after receiving the honor.

Chinese fans enthusiastically cheered on the Korean rappers by singing along.

Epik High has gradually boosted its name since the trio held its exclusive concert “Parade 2014” for the first time in two Chinese cities ― Shanghai and Beijing.

The hip-hop artists will hold a concert in the Philippines and Hong Kong on April 18 and 19, respectively. In May, the trio will embark on a concert tour in Japan and the U.S.

Hosted by China’s biggest website YINYUETAI, the annual music awards have been given to a slew of Chinese and “hallyu” stars in recognition for their popularity in the country since 2013.

Other Korean bands including GOT7, BOYFRIEND and Tiara also attended the award ceremony.
