FISU CSU Inspection for Gwangju Universiade wraps up on April 8

The FISU Universiade Supervision Committee (CSU) has wrapped up its 3 day inspection on April 8th in Gwangju. The CSU inspection was to assess the final preparation stage of the Universiade Gwangju 2015.

FISU CSU Chair Kemal TAMER, FISU CSU Vice-Chair Hisato IGARASHI, CSU Member Kenny CHOW, Summer Universiade Director Marc VANDENPLAS, Summer Universiade Manager Jing ZHAO, FISU Sport Assistant Melanie STALLECKER and representatives from the 2017 Taipei Organizing Committee took part in the final meeting at the GUOC headquarters on April 8.

The CSU inspection went through 19 functional areas which include immigration support, accreditation, transportation, competition venues, Athletes Village etc. The FISU delegates were impressed with the newly built venues, especially the Nambu University International Aquatics Center and Kwangju Women’s University Universiade Gymnasium.

 
CSU Chair Kemal TAMER said, “General tests and simulations should be conducted with all functional areas at least one week prior to the Atheletes Village opening.” He also mentioned, “After several meetings and venue inspections, I am confident that Gwangju will host a successful Universiade.”


The FISU delegation also commented on how safety and security should never be overlooked in any situation. They also emphasized the importance of cooperation with the FISU technical delegates regarding the sports events.

GUOC Secretary General KIM Yoon-suk concluded, “I would like to thank FISU CSU and FISU secretariat for their support and constructive feedback. Next month we will be better prepared. In July, we will be perfectly prepared.”
