Hyundai Motor conducts most internal trade: report

Hyundai Motor Group was found to have conducted the most internal trades among major business groups this year, according to data released on Monday.

CEO Score Daily’s analysis of 49 conglomerates’ agendas for shareholders’ meetings in March showed that Hyundai raised a total of 26 issues related to internal trade. This accounts for 29.9 percent of the total 87 cases raised by conglomerates.

Hyundai’s business empire spans from cars, parts and steel manufacturing to finance, tourism, marketing, farming and construction. Hyundai Rotem accounted for eight cases, followed by Hyundai Steel with six and Hyundai Glovis, Mobis and Hysco with four each.

Most cases included Glovis, the logistics arm of the business group ― Rotem paid 40 billion won, while Hyundai Steel paid 900 billion won to Glovis for product delivery.

Shinsegae Group, the country’s 13th-largest conglomerate by assets, took second place with a total of 17 cases, ranging from Shinsegae food and construction and discount chain E-mart also conducting internal deals.

Others on the list include Taekwang Group with eight cases; Samsung Group with seven; Daehan Synthetic Fiber with three; and Taekwang Industrial with one.
