NEW YORK (AP) ― New York City wants visitors from around the globe to experience Harlem’s cultural and culinary vibe.

The city’s tourism agency, NYC & Company, is releasing a short documentary Wednesday that spotlights the northern Manhattan neighborhood’s restaurants, music venues and theaters. They include the famous Apollo Theater and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

The short film, www.nycgo.com/video/inside-harlem, is being launched to cities as far away as Shanghai. It’s part of the city’s effort to highlight its diverse and distinct neighborhoods.

The documentary features six Harlem insiders recommending what to see and do after taking the uptown A Train. They include The Studio Museum, home to artwork dedicated to black culture.

Eateries include the Red Rooster, featuring American comfort foods, and Sylvia’s Restaurant, which serves soul food.
