The Incheon Airport Railroad Travel Center has played a key role in serving foreign tourists by offering diverse useful travel tips for every corner of Korea.

The center opened at Incheon International Airport Station last December in a bid to better meet the surge in international travelers.

According to railway officials, the center now attracts an average of 706 visitors per day. Of them, foreign nationals make up 70.5 percent, or 498 people they said.

Professional tour guides, who are fluent in English, Japanese and Chinese, work at the center all day to help visitors with transportation, accommodation and information on key tourist spots, including reservation services.

They also promote special package programs that combine KTX train tickets with foreigners-only taxi rides and hotel or other reservation services for popular tour programs such as visiting traditional markets or the Demilitarized Zone.

With the expansion of the Incheon International Airport, the railroad has also attracted a rising number of travelers in recent years.

The trains depart from the airport and connect to Gimpo International Airport and other key spots in Seoul.

On-time departures and arrivals, along with a short connecting time, are key factors behind the recent surge in foreign passengers. The platform is a five-minute walk from the airport’s arrival gate.

Currently, two types of trains ― nonstop and regular trains ― are operated on the railway. More popular is the nonstop train that reaches Seoul Station in 43 minutes.

It has reserved seats for individuals. The fare is 8,000 won ($7.40) per person or 6,000 won per person in groups of more than four people.

The operator has also installed telephone booths at the five most crowded stations ― Incheon Airport Station, Gimpo Airport Station, Hongik University Station, Gongdeok Station and Seoul Station.

For assistance, call 1330, which is operated in three languages ― English, Japanese and Chinese ― 24 hours a day in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization.
