South Korean baseball club Hanwha Eagles announced Friday they’ve acquired two veteran American pitchers with prior playing experience in the top domestic competition.
The Korea Baseball Organization team said they’ve signed left-hander Shane Youman and right-hander Mitch Talbot.
Youman will make $375,000, along with a $100,000 signing bonus. Talbot has signed for a $390,000 salary with a signing bonus of $210,000. Foreign players may only sign one-year deals in the KBO.
Youman, 35, pitched the past three seasons for another KBO club, the Lotte Giants. He was 38-21 with a 3.89 ERA in 88 appearances for the Giants.
He won 12 games in 2014 but struggled to a 5.93 ERA, his worst mark in the KBO.
Talbot, 31, has one KBO season under his belt. Pitching for the Lions in 2012, he was 14-3 with a 3.97 ERA in 25 appearances. The Lions won their second straight championship that year.
After that season, Talbot returned to the United States to pitch in the Triple-A and independent leagues. He also had a brief stint in Taiwan before returning to South Korea. (Yonhap)
