Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak plans to visit Seoul next week for talks with South Korean President Park Geun-hye on trade and investment, Park's office said Thursday.

The two leaders are set to hold talks on Wednesday on how to boost bilateral trade and investment. Trade volume between the two countries stood at US$19.6 billion last year, according to South Korean data.

Razak also plans to attend a special summit to be hosted by Park for leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in South Korea's second-largest city of Busan later next week.

The two-day summit, set to begin on Thursday, is designed to boost the strategic partnership with ASEAN on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of dialogue between South Korea and ASEAN, according to Park's office

Park met with ASEAN leaders in Myanmar in November.

ASEAN is South Korea's No. 2 investment destination and second-largest trade partner, with two-way trade amounting to $135 billion last year.

ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. (Yonhap)
