정부 셀카봉 단속, 외신 '별난 뉴스' 취급

미래창조과학부 중앙전파관리소가 전자파 인증을 받지 않은 블루투스 셀카봉을 집중 단속한다는 방침이 나오자 해외에서도 화제가 되고있다.


UPI 통신사는 한국정부의 단속방침을 별난 뉴스코너에서 소개하면서 미래부의 단속 이유등을 실었다.


미래부는 블루투스 셀카봉은 전파를 이용하는 방송통신기기여서 전자파 장애 방지 기준 등에 따른 시험을 거쳐 전자파 '적합 인증'을 받아야 한다고 밝히고 있다. 그렇지 않으면 전파법 위반으로 3년 이하의 징역 또는 3천만원 이하의 벌금형에 처해진다고 경고에 나섰다. 




미래부 설명에 따르면 전자파 미인증 셀카봉은 주변기기에 장해를 주거나 기기 자체의 오작동•성능 저하 등의 문제가 발생할 수 있다는 것이다.

한편 셀카봉은 애플워치, 3-D프린터와 함께 미국의 시사주간지 타임이 선정한 '2014년도 최 고의 발명품 25선'에 이름을 올렸다. (khnews@heraldcorp.com).

South Korean officials announced a "crackdown" on sales of unapproved selfie sticks could lead to jail time for sellers.

The country's science ministry said the Bluetooth-enabled devices, which allow users to take photos of themselves with extra reach, are classified as communications equipment and must be certified by the government to ensure they comply with regulations, including the level of electromagnetic radiation.

Officials said Bluetooth devices that don't conform to regulations could cause nearby devices to malfunction.

The ministry said a "heavy crackdown" is being carried out on sellers of unapproved selfie sticks and retailers found to be offering the products could face fines of up to $27,000 or up to three years in jail. (UPI)
