Gore Korea, the Korean operation of W.L. Gore and Associates Inc., said Wednesday that it has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Korea for the fourth consecutive year at the 2014 Great Place to Work Awards Ceremony held in Seoul.

The award was conferred by the Great Place to Work Institute, one of the world’s best-known research and management consultancies. Companies are selected based on surveys conducted on employees in the categories of workplace excellence, management and the role of trust in workplace culture.

“We are delighted to be part of this prestigious list. This recognition is an endorsement of what Gore has believed in for over 50 years,” said Baik Han-seung, country leader of Gore Korea. “This has been the foundation of our success in not only Korea but across Asia, and it has fueled the development of creative solutions for our customers across the globe.”

Gore, the developer of Gore-Tex fabrics and other innovative products, was recognized for its nonhierarchical, team-based culture, where decisions are made based on knowledge and influence rather than seniority, the firm said.

For more than 50 years globally and over 20 years in Korea, the company has cultivated a corporate culture that fosters the innovative spirit of both individuals and teams.

This year, Gore maintained its position on Fortune magazine’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America for the 17th straight year.

The company has also been highly ranked on similar lists in countries such as China, France, Germany and the U.K., Gore Korea said.
