Pungnap Camp, an English language camp in Songpa-gu, Seoul, is open to elementary and middle school students during the upcoming winter vacation, camp organizers said Tuesday.

They stressed that the best part of the camp is that unlike some of the English language camps that demand sky-high prices, students would be able to take part in high-quality programs lasting up to three weeks at affordable prices of around 1 million won ($900).

The programs, the organizers said, were created to not only help the students develop their English proficiency, but also cultivate a global mind by interacting with nationals of the U.S., U.K., Australia and Canada.

The programs include the Junior University, which offers a guide for both English and the participating students’ future paths.

The programs generally run from six to as long as 20 days.

To ensure safety, all employees and instructors at Pungnap Camp have received medical safety education from Asan Medical Center.

The camp is run by Herald Corp., the parent company of The Korea Herald, the nation’s No. 1 English newspaper.

Children of employees at Herald Corp. and its partner companies are therefore eligible for a tuition discount, the organizers said.

More information on the English camp is available at pungnap.sev.go.kr, or by calling (02) 480-4800 or (02) 480-4877.
