“통합의 리더십 발휘할 것”
성균관대는 학교법인 성균관대학이 이사회를 열어 정규상(62) 법학전문대학원 교수를 제20대 신임 총장으로 선임했다고 7일 밝혔다.
정 신임 총장은 1976년 성균관대 법학과를 졸업한 뒤 1978년과 1994년 이 학교에서 각각 법학 석•박사 학위를 취득했다.
1983년에는 제25회 사법시험에 합격(사법연수원 15기 수료)하고 1989년부터 성균관대 교수로 부임해 학생처장, 법과대학학장, 교수평의회 의장, 한국민사소송법학회 회장, 한국민사집행법학회 회장 등을 역임했다. 현재 이 학교 인문사회과학캠퍼스 부총장으로 재직 중이다.
정 신임 총장은 "솔선수범의 자세와 존중•배려의 마음으로 학내 구성원과 공감대를 형성하고 전체를 아우르는 통합의 리더십을 발휘해 성균관대가 글로벌 명문대학으로 도약할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 포부를 밝혔다.

Sungkyunkwan Univ. appoints new president
Chung Kyu-sang, a law professor, will serve as president of Sungkyunkwan University from early next year, the Seoul-based university said Sunday.
“In a meeting on Nov. 6, the board of directors appointed professor Chung as the 20th president,” it said in a press release.
Chung, 62, will take office on Jan. 17, replacing Kim Jun-young. He will serve four years.
Born in Hamyang, South Gyeongsang Province, the incoming chief studied law at Sungkyunkwan, earning all his academic degrees there, including a Ph.D. in 1994.
He returned to his alma mater as a professor in 1989, after passing the national bar exam in 1983.
Chung held various posts at the university, including the dean of the college of law and the head of the faculty council. Since last year, he has been serving as vice president of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus.
