Industry Awards/Investment Attraction
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority

I am very pleased that the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has become one of the winners of The Korea Herald Advertising Awards 2014.

I would like to think of the awards as acknowledgement of our efforts and passion toward becoming the third-ranked FEZ in the world, since launching as the Korea’s first FEZ in 2003 with an aim to improve national competitiveness by creating new growth engines.

Marking its 11th anniversary this year, the IFEZ has been praised for creating something from nothing. It has become an eco-friendly global city and the key region that heightens the value of Korea.

It’s no exaggeration to call it a global city, with foreign direct investment ― which started out from just $1 million ― now reaching $6.7 billion. Further, up to 13 international organizations from the United Nations and others such as the Green Climate Fund have moved into the area.

The IFEZ is also transforming into a global education hub as well as a mecca for global bio businesses.

The zone now has high hopes of developing into an advance base for service industries, leading the economic growth and job creation in Korea.

Along with the 11 years of support and encouragement from everyone, I believe advertisement has also largely contributed to publicizing the importance of the IFEZ. We will continue to do our utmost to attract more foreign investments and to let the world know of the IFEZ’s strength through diverse and objective advertisements.
