The two Koreas are to hold a general-level meeting at the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjeom to discuss a series of pending bilateral issues as early as Wednesday, the Chosun Ilbo reported earlier in the day.

The agenda for the meeting is expected to include the issues of anti-Pyongyang leaflets South Korean civic groups have flown and the increasing tension in waters near the Northern Limit Line, an inter-Korean sea border, the daily reported, citing a government source.

Although the two Koreas agreed to hold high-level talks later this month or early next month, tension has spiked over the past week after the North fired heavy machine guns at balloons containing anti-North Korea flyers.

The two Koreas last held a general-level meeting in December 2007. The two militaries held a working-level meeting in February 2011.
