Personally, I believe that teaching poetry in school is a wonderful idea. To start with, poetry allows students to be creative. That is because they can express themselves in many unique and fun ways with poems. Second, poetry is a great way to help students relieve stress. Writing about their worries and hardships can better enable them to get through those tough times. Finally, many famous works of literature are written in the poem format. To not teach poems would be limiting the students from learning about some very important people and events. To sum up, all students should learn about poetry at school.

Personally, I believe that teaching poetry in school is a bad idea. To start with, learning poetry takes away time from learning much more important subjects such as math, science, and history. Second, poetry can be very difficult to understand. In particular, many poems are confusing and many people do not agree on what they mean. Thus, it is not a good idea to teach such topics to young students. Finally, the vast majority of students will probably never use poetry in their adult lives. In fact, besides jobs as an author or teacher, almost nobody will deal with poetry. To sum up, students should not be poetry in school.
