The newborn was airlifted to the University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff, where she was pronounced dead.
A police investigation is ongoing.
The British parliament introduced the “Dangerous Dog Act” in 1991 in response to various attacks, particularly on children, by aggressive and uncontrolled dogs resulting in serious injury or death.
Under the act, four types of dogs, pit bull terriers, Japanese Tosa, dogo Argentino and fila Brasileiro, are banned from being bred, exchanged or sold.
