The Daegu Softball League is seeking new members for its 2014 season.

The league was founded by Douglas Karalius, Chris Bolger and Jason Yantorn in 2007.

“This is the most fun you will find on an afternoon in Daegu,” Karalius said. “You will make new friends, and have rivalries to talk about all week while you wait for the next game.”

The season consists of 10-11 games, depending on the number of participants, and the games will be held each Sunday. The season will run from the end of March until the middle of June.

The first game of the season is planned for March 30, but first-timers will be asked to come on March 16 for a meet-and-greet with the teams.

The games will take place in various locations in and around Daegu, including Duryu Park and Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

The DSL recruits up to 10 teams, each with 12-13 members. Teams include both men and women and a mix of expatriates and English-speaking locals, regardless of the level of experience.

“Daegu Softball is truly a great community that people should experience if they’re new to the area,” Karalius added.

The cost for the whole season is 75,000 won, which covers an opening and closing party, team jerseys and equipment. Participants are asked to bring their own gloves.
