Fair to introduce Malaysian food, conference in Kuala Lumpur

Local foodies will soon get a taste of dishes among the most exotic in Southeast Asian cuisine at this year’s Korea Food Week at Coex Convention and Exhibition Center from Nov. 6-9.

A Malaysian food and beverage company, Blossom View, will bring edible bird’s nest for tasting on Wednesday.

Edible bird’s nest is among the most expensive of animal products, with an average nest selling for $2,500 per kilogram in East Asia.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and ASEAN-Korea Center arranged for the Malaysian companies to participate in the annual event, and helped to set up meetings between local corporate representatives and ones from Kuala Lumpur.

Other Malaysian food items will be presented alongside edible bird’s nest soup, including palm oil from Al-Khaleej Industries, frozen durian by Hernan Corp., and several other frozen food products from Hajjah Aminah Foods.

Hundreds of visitors are expected to get a taste from Southeast Asian vendors. The items on display include palm oil cooking oil, and frozen food including traditional Malaysian cakes, as well as such exotic wares as edible bird’s nest.

MATRADE is also inviting South Korean companies to participate in the Business Meeting Program of the Offshore Technology Conference in Kuala Lumpur from March 25-28, 2014.
