Air France kicked off its 80th anniversary celebrations this week with numerous events for its staff and customers, the company said.

The celebration aims to retrace 80 years of creativity and the art of service, as well as stories of design and innovations, it said in a statement.

To place its staff at the heart of this anniversary year, the airliner said, the in-house newsletter, radio and intranet are all adopting the Air France colors.

Also, in partnership with Airbus, an Airbus A380 with an 80th anniversary logo flew to Johannesburg on Monday. An Airbus A320 will sport the same logo shortly. They will keep this special event for one year.

On Oct. 7 in 1933, Air France was officially inaugurated at La Bourget airport. The new airline was formed from the merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Societe Generale de Transports Aeriens, the CIDNA and Aeropostale.

Since the days of its first commercial flights, Air France has made comfort and service on board one of its priorities.
