A South Korean man was arrested on charges of killing a 17-year-old girl in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, but denied knowing about the murder, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the suspect claimed he could not recall his whereabouts on Sept. 15, the day the high school girl was brutally stabbed on her way home.
The suspect, 40, was riding a bike near the murder scene -- but 5 kilometers away from his home -- at 10:42 p.m. on that day, surveillance camera footage showed, but he continued to deny the murder charges during the interrogation on Wednesday, police said.
Police sent his possessions to the National Forensic Service to see whether they were used for the crime.
