As the current honorary ambassadors of children’s development and child sponsorship programs for Plan Korea, the four members of Girl’s Day are holding a special guerilla concert on Aug. 20 at Everland’s Caribbean Bay.

The concert is being held as part of Plan Korea’s “Because I am a Girl” campaign to raise awareness and support young girls in need around the world. Plan Korea will also be hosting a special Facebook event along with Everland, aiming to get more fans involved with the campaign. Should the guerilla concert event post receive at least 10,000 “likes,” on the Facebook page, the management of Everland has pledged to donate 10 million won to Plan Korea.

The “Because I am a Girl” campaign’s main initiative is to support girls’ rights in the developing world and help break the cycle of poverty among girls in these countries. The campaign estimates that approximately 70 percent of the 1 billion people who are living in extreme poverty are females, who are estimated to be three times more likely to be malnourished than men.

The members of Girl’s Day will also embark on a four-day volunteer trip with Plan Korea to Thailand on Aug. 27 to further the campaign’s initiatives.
