Park Dong-hoon, chief executive of the Volkswagen brand at Audi Volkswagen, has joined Renault Samsung Motors as the chief of sales and marketing.
“It was not an easy decision, especially since I had worked for eight years side by side with Volkswagen Korea. But I feel it’s time now to apply my know-how to other areas within the auto industry,” Park said regarding his relocation.
Park had been with Volkswagen since 2005. Under his leadership, the carmaker’s annual sales jumped from 1,635 to over 18,000 units.
Renault Samsung said it decided to recruit Park from outside the company to help its bid to improve sales.
Renault Samsung is the nation’s fifth-largest automaker.
