Iconic Australian artist David Hart’s highly collectable masterworks and fine art reproductions were on display last week at the Australian Embassy, giving viewers a taste of his upcoming exhibition in September.

For Hart, Korea was “the perfect place to launch the David Hart brand internationally” due to its strong economic and cultural platform and its commitment to the arts. 

“I would have loved to be there with you all today but I’m here in the studio working hard on my Korea exhibition,” Hart said in a video message.

The son of artist Pro Hart, David Hart has risen over the past 25 years in his own right to build a highly successful brand in Australia. He has a strong following of collectors and investors, including business magnate Donald Trump, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, and former Australian Prime Minister John Howard.

Hart is best described as an action painter with an interest in “illustrating life” by spilling paint over surfaces to create energy, texture and an explosion of color. At his studio located in the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, Hart paints Australian history, flower studies, beach scenes and dusty mining towns.

The artworks on display last week included limited edition paintings from the “Inspiration,” “Flowers,” and “Dragonflies” series. The upcoming exhibition will also include “The Arrival” series, which depicts scenes from the arrival of white colonialists in Australia and its impact on the indigenous community.

Scott Walker, director of Austcham, one of the sponsors of the event, said that the event furthered “greater collaboration and connectivity in the field of arts between Korea and Australia.”
