Sheaffer, the world’s leading fountain pen manufacturer, commemorates its 100th anniversary this year, as it continues to expand its business worldwide and innovate its products.

Celebrating the milestone, the U.S.-based luxury pen maker released limited editions ― 45 sets of the Sheaffer Centennial Solid Gold Fountain Pens, 516 Sheaffer Centennial Limited Edition Sterling Silver models and 1,913 Sheaffer Centennial Legacy Heritage Sterling Silver editions ― priced between 1.5 million won ($1,298) and 30 million won, the company said.

Founded in 1903 by Walter A. Sheaffer in Fort Madison, Iowa, and incorporated in 1913, the company introduced the world’s first level-filling technology, revolutionizing the pen-making industry.

Since its inception, Sheaffer has maintained the top position in the world with its landmark innovations ― first adopting its signature “white dot” and then developing its patented trademark, the inlaid nib.

In 1997, Sheaffer became a subsidiary of the world’s No. 1 pen maker BIC and has since become a top luxury brand in the industry.

The recent years have shown Sheaffer’s growing presence in the Asian market.

According to the company, its average sales growth rate between 2004 and 2010 recorded 14 percent in Asia. Since then, its market share jumped to nearly 19 percent annually, moving far ahead of its competitors.
