South Korean professional baseball player Shin Hyeon-cheol was indicted without physical detention for hitting a man with his car while drunk and fleeing the scene, prosecutors said Thursday.

According to Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Shin crashed into a taxi with his car at 4:37 a.m. on April 8. The owner of the taxi exited the vehicle and blocked Shin’s car.

The investigators said an “infuriated” Shin hit the taxi driver with his car multiple times and fled the scene. The driver was hospitalized with an injury that took him two weeks to heal.

Shin’s blood alcohol level was 0.189 percent, a level that could lead to the revocation of his driver’s license, the police said.

Shin was a replacement player for Kim Min-woo, a Nexen infielder, who had been suspended and given community service for driving without a license while drunk on April 9.
