A North Korea Human Rights group is hosting a discussion Saturday on the Korean War with novelist Lee Ho-cheol as guest speaker.

The talk is part of a monthly series this year on the stories of North Koreans organized by Now Action and Unity for N.K. Human Rights. On-site English translations are provided.

Lee is a member of the Republic of Korea National Academy of the Arts and received the Modern Literature Award for “Panmunjom” and the Dongin Prize for “Wasting Away.”

He was born in present-day North Korea and fought for the North in the Korean War, before coming to the South as a prisoner of war, where he stayed and became an author.

The discussion runs 2-4 p.m. at W stage on the fourth floor of the Anguk Building outside Exit 1 of Anguk Station.

Tickets are 15,000 won. All profits from the event will go toward helping to rescue North Korean refugees hiding in China.
