President Park Geun-hye plans to meet with Google founder Larry Page later this week, government officials said Tuesday, the second such meeting with a global technology leader this week after one with Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
As in the meeting with Gates, Park is expected to seek advice from Page about her “creative economy” drive that calls for creating unheard of business opportunities and more jobs by mixing information and communications technologies with the cultural and other sectors.
The meeting with Page is scheduled for Friday, presidential officials said.
During the meeting with Gates on Monday, Park outlined her vision and sought his view. Gates praised Park’s efforts to promote creativity with advice that South Korea should expand investments in research and development, and make greater efforts to foster venture start-ups. (Yonhap News)
