An international hacking group on Tuesday unveiled another list of subscribers to two pro-North Korean websites, following its hacking of five similar propaganda online pages on the 101st birthday of the communist regime’s founder.

The hacktivist group Anonymous disclosed personal information, including log-on IDs, passwords, names and email addresses of 98 subscribers to Minjok Tongshin, an English language news provider, and Paekdu-Hanna.com, a site run by a North Korean-Chinese association.

The hacking group’s info release came a day after it said it attacked North Korea’s main news and propaganda Web site, Uriminzokkiri, on Kim Il-sung’s birthday. The birthday, which fell on Monday, is called the Day of the Sun by the communist country and is the nation’s most important holiday. Kim, who died in 1994, is the grandfather of incumbent leader Kim Jong-un.

South Korean law enforcement said it will follow up on the list to find out if those registered with the propaganda sites had violated related domestic laws that can punish people for helping the North.

The hackers claimed earlier in the month that they had “crashed” several North Korean sites to protest Pyongyang’s efforts to build nuclear weapons. The North detonated its third nuclear device on Feb. 12, in defiance of warnings by the international community.

The group caused a sensation when it attacked and defaced Uriminzokkiri and stole the personal information of around 15,000 registered members, which was subsequently released to the public.

The two Koreas remain technically at war since the 1950-53 Korean War ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty. (Yonhap News)
