U.K. researchers said in a recent study that babies tend to favor overweight men over muscular, attractive men.

Researchers at University of Sheffield conducted a study on three baby groups aged 3 months, 6 months and 9 months to find out what male figures infants preferred.

The babies were shown batches of photos of attractive men and another batch that featured relatively less attractive men. Each photo was shown for 10 seconds at a time.

In the study, 9-month-old babies’ eyes lingered more on photos of less attractive men, while 6-month-old and 3-month-old babies showed no significant preference between the photos.

Researchers said that the results show that the babies are attracted to people similar to ones found in their daily environment, rather than people that fit the cultural standards of attractiveness.

Exactly at what age babies obtain adult-made standards for attractiveness remains unclear and further studies are needed, researchers said.

The study was published in the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology.
