A lecture hosted by the Royal Asiatic Society Korea Branch on April 23 will explore the views of leading scholars on the future of Korea.

Scholar Emanuel Pastreich will present interviews conducted by think tank Asia Institute with experts including Francis Fukuyama, Benjamin Barber and Noam Chomsky.

They touch on issues including welfare, education, trade and politics, and Pastreich hopes to follow the presentation with a discussion among attendees.

Pastreich is associate professor of humanities at the Graduate School of Pan Pacific and International Studies at Kyung Hee University and director of the Asia Institute.

He has advised key figures including the mayors of Gwangju and Daejeon and the Korean ambassador to the United States, and has written four books on East Asian history and literature.

The presentation starts 7:30 p.m. at the Residents’ Lounge of Somerset Palace in Anguk-dong Seoul. Admission is free for RASKB members and 7,000 won for non-members.
