The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Wednesday said it was receiving grant applications for hallyu magazines seeking to advance overseas.

The publications, to be eligible, should cover the areas of traditional, contemporary or pop culture in Korea.

Seven selected magazines will receive up to 2.5 million won a month in subsidies to put toward translation of their content for six months. A total of 30 additional magazines will be supported with a translation stipend for their brochures and other promotional materials that can be used at international exhibitions and other events. The government will also support the development of smartphone applications and QR codes that will redirect the users to the magazines’ websites.

Those interested in applying should download the forms from www.magazine.or.kr or www.mcst.go.kr and submit the required documents as well as an English abstract of the publication by April 10. Interviews and presentations will follow on April 16 and the successful candidates will be posted on the Korea Magazine Society’s website at www.magazine.or.kr on April 18.
