Fleur Pellerin, the Korean-born French minister overlooking small and mid-sized enterprises and the digital economy, is joining the austerity policy of her Socialist government, given her choice of the Citroen DS5 as her official car during her short stay in Korea. 

Considering that visiting foreign VIPs usually prefer to ride in luxury limousines, the diesel hatchback with an engine capacity of only 1,997cc seems to be a reflection of the practical French chic.

According to an industry source, PSA Peugeot Citroen had asked the Korean official importer Hanbul Motors to offer the DS5, the high-end model of Citroen’s DS lineups and one of the largest vehicles made by the French carmaker, for this visit.

The DS5 is already known as “the presidential car,” as it has big fans among the French leaders, including former President Charles de Gaulle. Most recently, French President Francois Hollande took the hybrid version through the Paris Champs Elysees and came to the Elysee Palace for his inauguration in May.

'펠르랭의 리무진’ 시트로엥 DS5

“장관의 차”로는 다소 소박하지만 이미 지난 5월 프랑수아 올랑드 프랑스 대통령이 DS5의 하이브리드 모델을 타고 취임식 퍼레이드에 참석해 화제가 된바 있다.

사회당정부의 지도자들로서 어쩌면 당연해보이나 현지에서는 유럽 국가들이 재정위기로 긴축정책을 펴고 있는 가운데 귀감이 되는 사례로 꼽고 있다.
