Two South Korean students have admitted to bullying a 15-year-old student who killed himself on March 11, Gyeongsan police said.

The students said they hit the victim on the head, according to the police investigation. The two 15-year-olds, however, made conflicting claims on who sexually harassed the teenager.

Police searched through the victim’s mobile handset, tracking down phone calls and text messages from March 2013, but no evidence of bullying was found.

Police plans to analyze the students’ phone calls and other details through Wednesday.

Meanwhile, President Park Geun-hye called on policymakers to come up with measures to root out school violence.

경산 자살고교생 가해학생 2명이 숨진 최군에 대한 폭행 혐의를 인정했다.

경북 경산경찰서는 지난 17일 오후 주요 가해학생인 권모(15)군과 이모(15)군을 대질신문한 결과 권군이 지난해 10월 학교에서 최군의 머리를 때리는 등 폭행한 사실을 인정했다고 18일 밝혔다.

권군은 그러나 “교실에서 최군의 바지를 벗게 한 것은 이군이 한 짓”이라고 진술했다.

이에 이군은 “자신은 최군의 바지를 벗긴 적이 없으며 오히려 권군이 지난해 4월과 10월에 최군을 때리는 것을 봤다”고 반박했다.

경찰은 지난해 3월부터 이번 달 12일까지 최군의 휴대전화 통화와 문자내역을 분석했지만 특이점을 발견하지 못했다.

강신욱 경산경찰서 수사과장은 “가해학생들이 부인한 혐의들을 재조사할 방침”이라고 밝혔다.

경찰은 오는 20일까지 가해학생들의 휴대전화 내역을 분석할 예정이다.

한편, 박근혜 대통령은 학교 폭력을 근절하기 위한 대안을 찾을 것을 즉각 요구했다. (코리아헤럴드)
