LONDON (AP) ― Carlos Tevez put Manchester City on the road to Wembley with an FA Cup hat trick on Saturday, two days after being arrested for a driving offense.

The Argentine forward also played a part in goals by Aleksandar Kolarov and David Silva as City routed Barnsley 5-0 to reach the semifinals.

Tevez’s goals came while he is out on bail after being arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

“It is his problem ― not ours,” City manager Roberto Mancini said before quipping, “If it has this effect on him I hope the police can stop him every day.”

Wigan also will be playing at Wembley next month, reaching the semifinals for the first time in its 81-year history. Maynor Figueroa, Callum McManaman and Jordi Gomez scored in a 3-0 win at Everton, which started Jan Mucha in goal because American Tim Howard is sidelined by two broken bones in his back.

But Wigan dropped into the Premier League relegation zone when Aston Villa and American goalkeeper Brad Guzan won 2-1 at Reading.

With a game in hand, Wigan (6-16-6) is three points behind Villa (6-14-9) but a point above Reading (5-16-8) and last-place Queens Park Rangers (4-14-11), which beat Sunderland 3-1 to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

While EPL survival is the priority for owner Dave Whelan, a trip to Wembley could give him happier memories of the national stadium. Whelan’s playing career ended when he broke a leg playing for Blackburn in the 1960 FA Cup final.

Spain

Lionel Messi extended his Spanish league record by scoring in his 17th straight game, helping Barcelona beat last-place Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 ahead of a critical Champions League match against AC Milan.

Alexis Sanchez put Barcelona ahead in the 38th minute and Messi, rested at the start along with several regulars, entered in the 62nd and scored on a left-footed flick in the 88th. Messi has a league-leading 40 goals and 51 overall.

Germany

Bayern Munich opened a 20-point lead in the Bundesliga, rallying twice to beat Fortuna Duesseldorf 3-2 as defending champion Borussia Dortmund lost 2-1 at Schalke.

Bayern got goals from Thomas Mueller in the 45th, Franck Ribery in the 73rd and Jerome Boateng in the 86th, overcoming go-ahead goals by Mathis Bolly in the 16th and Andreas Lambertz in the 71st.

Bayern (21-1-3) has 66 points with nine league games remaining, followed by Dortmund (13-5-7) with 46 and Bayer Leverkusen (13-6-6) with 45.

Italy

Roma’s three-match Serie A-winning streak ended with a 1-1 tie at Udinese.

Erik Lamela put visiting Roma ahead in the 20th minute after Alessandro Florenzi’s header banged off the crossbar, but Luis Muriel scored for Udinese in the 62nd.

France

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored two second-half goals as first-place Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Nancy 2-1 in the French league despite another mediocre performance against weaker opposition.

Benjamin Moukandjo put the visitors ahead with a header in the 36th minute, but Ibrahimovic scored in the 59th and 62nd minutes, raising his league-leading goals total to 24. David Beckham entered for PSG in the 73rd.

PSG (17-5-6) opened a five-point lead over second-place Lyon, which hosts third-place Marseille (15-8-4) on Sunday. Nancy (4-15-9) is 19th.
