Vogo Kora, a joint Korean-Indonesian company, has signed a project management contract on the construction of a highway in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Its key officials, including Setia Budhy Algamar, senior advisor to the public works minister, visited Korea late last month to sign the contract and to tour Korea’s key public organizations, company officials said.

The $13.3 billion contract involves the construction of a four-lane, 2,727-kilometer-long highway in the Aceh district.

Together with the Korea Express Corporation, Korea Saemaul Undong Center and the Federation of Korean Industries, Vogo Kora officials also discussed means to promote the two countries’ bilateral ties and to expand the range of cultural exchanges.

The firm was jointly founded by Vogo, a Korean investment company, and PDPA, a public enterprise of the special autonomous district of Aceh, with the aim of promoting redevelopment in the area.

Kora is a combination of “Korea” and “Aceh.”
