걸그룹 원더걸스 멤버 혜림이 EBS FM (104.5MHz) 영어 라디오 ‘잉글리쉬 고고’에 출연자로 확정, 개인 활동에 시동을 걸었다.

혜림은 27일부터 매주 수요일 EBS ‘잉글리쉬 고고’에서 새로 시작하는 ‘보이는 라디오’에 출연해 댄스, 발라드, 트로트 등 여러 장르의 노래를 영어로 선보일 예정이다.

혜림이 선보일 코너는 가요의 한 소절을 청취자들이 직접 영어로 불러보는 시간을 마련해, 청취자가 방송에 참여할 수 있는 기회도 제공한다. 이 밖에도 한 달에 한번, 최신 팝송을 우리나라 말로 바꿔 많은 사람들이 영어를 보다 쉽고 친근하게 느낄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

혜림은 한국에서 태어나 14년간 홍콩에서 유년기를 보내 영어는 물론 중국어, 광동어, 한국어 등 4개 국어에 능통한 것으로 알려졌다. EBS 관계자에 따르면 혜림은 노래 가사를 직접 영어로 바꾸는 열정을 보이고 있다고 전했다.

지난 26일, 혜림은 자신의 트위터에 “여러분 안녕하세요! ‘the Wonder K-pop’ EBS 보이는 라디오에 출연하게 됐어요. 매주 수요일, 오후 여섯시에 진행될 거에요! 함께해요!” (Hi everyone! I‘m starting a radio show from EBS called, ‘the Wonder K-Pop!’ It’s held every Wednesdays, at 6pm (Korea time)! Please join me!)고 새로 시작하는 프로그램에 기대를 모았다.

‘잉글리쉬 고고’는 혜림 뿐 아니라 ‘개그콘서트’의 개그맨 김성원, 힙합 그룹 일렉트로보이즈의 원카인, 미술사 김종수가 함께 출연한다.

프로그램의 엠씨는 썬킴과, 새로운 진행자 피터 두명으로, 월요일에서 토요일까지 한 시간 생방송으로 다양한 콘텐츠로 영어로 접할 수 있다.

Wonder Girls’ Hye-rim to join English radio show

Hye-rim from popular girl group Wonder Girls will star in the K-pop segment of EBS FM’s new English radio program “English Go Go.”

The singer will join every Wednesday for the video radio corner in the “English Go Go” program. According to EBS Hye-rim will sing different genres of music including dance, ballads, trot music in English.

The K-pop corner will allow listeners to participate in the program, where they will be able to sing Korean songs in English. Once every month, the radio program will offer the vice-versa where popular English pop songs in Korean.

Born in Hong Kong, the singer is fluent in four languages including English, Chinese, Cantonese and Korean. An advocate from the program stated that Hye-rim was enthusiastic about the new corner, changing Korean lyrics into English.

On Tuesday Hye-rim showed her enthusiasm in her personal twitter, “Hi everyone! I‘m starting a radio show from EBS called, ‘the Wonder K-Pop!’ It’s held every Wednesdays, at 6pm (Korea time)! Please join me!”

“English Go Go” will feature Kim Seong-won from KBS 2TV Gag Concert, 1Kyne from hip hop group ElectroyZ and magician Kim Jong-su.

Featuring MC Sun Kim and co-host Peter EBS FM ‘English Go Go” introduces listeners to a wide selection of English contents from Monday to Saturday live.
