Police on Wednesday caught the man who threatened to blow up a department store in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province.

Baek, 45, contacted a local TV reporter about a week ago and threatened to bomb the department store, demanding some 450 million won.

The man repeatedly asked the reporter to deliver the money for several days. Police went undercover but he never appeared, as the suspect was watchful for any sign of police.

The investigation continued through the Seollal holidays without any clue to the identity of the man.

Early Wednesday, police nabbed the suspect after tracking down his car, and confirmed that he did not have an accomplice.

The man has 19 crimes on his criminal record, including robbery, and he reportedly had financial problems.

지난 7일 오후 전북 전주시에서 백화점을 폭파시키겠다고 협박한 백모(45)씨가 범행 일주일째인 13일 경찰에 붙잡혔다.

백씨는 전과 19범으로 드러났으며, 붙잡힌 이후 계속해서 경제적 어려움에 대해 언급하고 있는 것으로 보아 범행 동기가 이와 큰 관련이 있는 것으로 추정된다.

경찰은 공범은 없는 것으로 보인다고 밝혔다.
