가수 싸이가 ‘강남스타일’ 후속곡 발표 시기에 대해 ‘4월쯤 될 것’이라고 밝혔다.

상하이 일정을 마치고 4일 오후 인천공항을 통해 입국한 싸이는 입국장에서 기다리는 취재진들을 향해 “곡은 나왔는데 뮤직비디오 짜는게 지옥”이라며 현재 작업 상황을 말했다.

싸이의 ‘강남스타일’은 유튜브에서 10억뷰라는 대기록을 달성했고. 지난 달 12억뷰를 달성한 바 있다.

특히, 이날 싸이가 촬영한 미국 인기 스낵 브랜드 ‘원더풀 피스타치오’ 광고는 CBS TV가 이날 생중계한 제 47회 슈퍼볼 도중 하프타임 광고로 등장했다. 싸이는 자신의 첫 미국 TV 광고가 전파를 탄 데 대해서 “오늘 나왔나?”라고 확인한 뒤 “뿌듯하다”고 전했다.

싸이는 당초 중국 상하이에서 출발, 인천공항에 도착해 미국 로스앤젤레스행 비행기로 갈아탈 예정이었으나, 항공편 연착으로 예정에 없던 귀국을 했다.

싸이는 5일 미국으로 출국해, 8-9일에는 브라질 카니발 행사에 참석하며, 11일에는 말레이시아 북부 페낭주에서 열리는 춘제 행사에서 ‘강남스타일’공연을 펼친다.

이후 가수 싸이는 25일 열리는 대통령 취임식에 맞취 귀국할 예정이다.

Psy to release new song in April

Korean rapper Psy said Monday that his next song would likely be released in April.

“I’ve already finished the song, but it has been hellish trying to make the music video,” he told reporters at Incheon International Airport.

The rapper achieved worldwide recognition last year for his music video “Gangnam Style,” the first to hit 1 billion views on YouTube. Last month the video surpassed 1.2 billion views.

The singer recently starred in a Super Bowl ad for Wonderful Pistachios, a popular snack brand in the U.S. The commercial was aired during halftime of the 47th Super Bowl that was broadcast by American network CBS.

The singer made an unscheduled visit to Seoul after his connecting flight to Los Angeles en route from Shanghai was delayed.

Psy left for the U.S. Tuesday to attend events before leaving for Brazil to participate in the Carnival held on Feb. 8-9. The rapper will also perform “Gangnam Style” at the Lunar New Year festival on the northern island of Penang, Malaysia, on Feb. 11.

He will then return to Seoul for the inauguration ceremony for South Korean President-elect Park Geun-hye on Feb. 25.
